THE FUTURE IS HERE!!!
K, self check outs are one thing, but how about a grocery store without checkout lanes, cashiers, or shopping carts??!! Cincinnati-based Kroger, the nation's largest traditional supermarket chain, opened a robotic grocery kiosk on the campus of Ohio Northern University and it could be part of the future. It's about the size of an enclosed bus stop, it's self-contained, refrigerated and can carry up to 200 items. It is restocked daily with such staples as toiletries, cleaning supplies, and perishables that include fresh milk, bread, fruit, and ground beef. It accepts cash, debit cards and credit cards, and for students who don't have a car or don't have time to go grocery shopping, it's already getting good reviews! |
